I know we are all at different places in our lives, and on different journeys and paths. However in this post I hope to give a perspective of our true potential as christians, if you found this blog and don’t know Jesus personally then I invite you to follow along anyway to see what you could become.
The first point im going to make is this,
Dont let the resurrection be of no power to you, In other words don’t let Christ have died in vain by holding holy spirit hostage.
Okay you might be asking yourself, “what is he talking about?” Well fear not because I am about to explain.
Jesus clearly states in
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather[e] rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
and again when he is speaking of The Holy Spirit in
5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a]in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
So Jesus is saying clearly here that you will receive power through the holy spirit, however what I am saying is we often times get in the way, hindering the whole process. Even Jesus is saying this in
“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
They could have had it kindled if they had listened to the prophets
but dont beat yourself up it’s just that, a process of learning. The hardest thing, I feel, is we put ourselves unknowingly sometimes in these little boxes called comfort zones. The holy spirit is everywhere and in all things yes, but the manifest presence is limitless and won’t fit in those little boxes.
The cool thing about it is we control how deep we want to go, but the deeper you go the more extravagant things that happen. Which can be kind of scary, but remember.
2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
a perfect example of the depth is in Matthew
22 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea,[a] tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[b] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Then those who were in the boat came and[c] worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”
Any one of the Disciples could have gotten out of that boat but peter was the only one who dared to ask and because of it he got to walk on water with Jesus.
And the last point I wanted to make was a debunking of the statement of “getting burnt out”
we have the same limitless spirit that spoke creation into existence living within us, and he says come to him and you will find rest. We can drink freely from the well that never runs dry the water of life so getting “burnt out” serving GOD is impossible. Yes you still have to sleep though.
So we can do all things, not some things all things, through he who gives us strength. things like healing the sick or injured, setting captives free, exploring the way of the spirit, all in ordinance with our faith. All it takes is one moment of being uncomfortable, getting over ourselves, pulling up our big boy pants, and getting out of the boat, without doubt, and without fear.
So my prayer today is that we all step into who we are supposed to be in christ that we may have a heart that beats in unison with Christ’s and that we may receive the faith and boldness to just step out of the boat and into the wonderful journey that he has for us.
SO if you made it this far I just want to say thank you for reading I love you and all glory to my father in heaven.
