Today I’m going to talk about something that has been on my mind the past couple of weeks. Its a touchy subject, its an uncomfortable subject and that’s why I have been contemplating on how to deliver it. SO I was seeking GOD about it and he just said Joshua tell it like it is. So here we go.
Today I am going to talk about sin, more specifically sexual sin.
What sparked it was a friend of mine saying how she believed intercourse outside of wedlock was a sin but oral sex was not. Which got me thinking why some people believed that way, because I had just assumed that things that were close to sex i/e masturbation were wrong. So I dug into the word about it, and what I could find was that covetousness is a sin, lusting after a married woman is a sin, lusting after any woman is a sin, yes intercourse between same sexes is a sin, and definitely outside of marriage is a sin
But there was still much left in the grey area, even after reading the book Every Mans Battle – by Stephen Arterburn Fred Stoeker and Mike Yorkey. The book talks about this subject almost strictly from a married mans point of view. Which only intensified my search for the truth on the matter.
I was digging into the word of GOD, which gained understanding but also it confused me even further with the term sexual immorality, because I wasn’t 100% sure what it meant. Upon researching it, it came from the root of selling off of ones sexual purity, which still didn’t answer my question
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”[a]17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[b] and in your spirit, which are God’s.
So insted of leaning on mans understanding, and instead of leaning on my own understanding I asked the father and he brought me to these scriptures.
The Lukewarm Church
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans[b] write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,[c] I will vomit you out of My mouth.
9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother. 10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord; therefore He killed him also.
It was in those moment of me recalling those scriptures that I had the revelation, that yes although thee word dose not really talk about these things directly they are grey area activities and the grey area is being lukewarm, which is bad.
And that nothing is by chance, by saying that I am saying that the fact that one of the first recorded evidences of man disobeying god was masturbation is not a chance.
It seems like a no brainier to me now but in my initial search there were people who were christian who were supporting my friend argument which is why I was confused.
but ultimately overall it got me thinking these are the kind of things that need to be spoken just because they are “taboo” or uncomfortable in most households means no one is talking about it so when someone thinks its okay to do these things it goes unchecked. Furthermore our culture seemingly has encouraged these things to the point where the youth of today are freely partaking in these activities with little to no repercussion.
not just the youth but people of all ages, I personally blame the fact that no one wants to accept responsibility and take a stand on key issues, and the fact that the young adults of today have been treated like children by people saying “oh your 18-26, your such a baby.” as small of a gesture as that seems im a firm believer that you treat someone like a child they will begin to act like a child. not only that the Word of GOD says.
1 Corinthians 13:11
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
When we treat people like children that encourages the mindset of a child. The mind set of oh im entitled to provision someone has to provide for me, when in my eyes your an adult right at 18 but you also have to accept the responsability of an adult.
Not saying that you shouldnt have hobbies or child like enthusiasm, however you should not think that someone will provide for you but instead figure out, and provide for yourself.
But wow Im really spinning off here, then again I really don’t know what im going to right until i sit down, moral of the story, Jesus good Immorality bad okay :p
so my prayer to you who read this and all who struggle with these subjects is this that you may choose to be free and walk in victory and spread the love of the father to the ends of the earth all the days that we draw breath. amen
I love you and thank you for reading.
