Time travel

In my past a dabbled with being self righteous, unknowingly of course. It was brought to light by one of my friends when I was talking about how we are the righteousness of Christ.

 2 Corinthians 5:21

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

And he was expressing how I wielded that like a weapon and it made him feel isolated.

Not very Christ like I know.

but It got me thinking that we cant present ourselves as untouchable or unrelatable. If we do this, we present Jesus in the same manner, for it is through he that we are made righteous.

1 Corinthians 1:30

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

So I began to do a little introspection and meditation on the matter, seeking GOD, because I never, ever ,ever want to misrepresent he who saved me from the edge of oblivion, I want everyone to know his love.

John 15:19

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

In seeking him he brought back memories of people speaking things about me because of the things I said, like “Oh well we don’t all see life as rainbows and sunshine Joshua!” or “You should just go be a monk somewhere”

during these instances I didn’t think anything of these statements but through the frame of mind that I may have been sounding like I was chastising them for not thinking my way. I almost got sick. I asked “Lord what would you have me do?” In that moment of unbridled yielding to his Holy Spirit he spoke to me saying “Joshua, show them that you are just as broken, by taking yourself to a previous way of thinking, remember where your mind was, but also remember that it WAS there and is no longer.”

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

So I began doing thus, and it began bearing fruit almost immediately, I felt like people thought, “Wow if he saved that guy then surely god is for me too.”

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Romans 8:31

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can beagainst us?

but I began to grow complacent and not listing to the spirit of the lord when he said remember that WAS how you though and in forgetting I began to back slide and found my words not matching quite up to my lips, meaning my actions even in secret places were not aligning with the word of the Lord. Even though I was in a previous visited place, it didn’t feel the same. I was hungry for more for I had been deeper and the previous place was fleeting. Upon realizing that I had unknowingly did this my knees hit the ground and I cried out in repentance, Father! forgive me! and immediately felt his Love, his mercy and his Grace wash over me.

Hebrews 10:17

17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

So maybe you who are reading this struggle with some similar things or maybe the enemy has you feeling condemned or that you are using your righteousness as a weapon, then my prayer is that we all may yield to holy spirit and allow him to love the world through us and in doing so be carriers of his fire that wherever we may roam that we follow the light unto our path. and that we remember there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Freedom

John 8:31-36

The Truth Shall Make You Free

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Just as Jesus said here, IF we abide in HIS word than we are his disciples, and we are free indeed. Truly free, free from sin and death, free from the world, Jesus freedom is pure, it is true and it is forever.

Although you we know the truth and have been set free we often times choose to put the chains of bondage and past sins back on, or things that the world throws at us hurt our flesh so bad we construct these massive walls to keep the truth out, because it hurts so bad, because we are blaming GOD, or even just because it looks enticing, it looks familiar, and a lot of the time the eternal looks foreign and unfamiliar. That’s why I have never understood the phrase “Ugly as sin” because upfront sin is not ugly, sin looks good, sin looks tasty, it smells good, and in some cases even feels good for a time. But when the event passes and the temporal begins to fade you are just left hungry, you are left alone, and it no longer feels good, it feels dark and isolating, which is why in those moments we must repent and let the forever love back in, not that he ever left, but sometimes when caught up in the world it may feel that way.

2 Timothy 2:20-26

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Here he is saying to turn away from our youthful lusts, by youthful he isn’t just speaking of age but of when we were young in the ways of the spirit and still living in the temporal mindset of the world. And yes we will all fall short some times and make mistakes, and although this is true it does not give us free reign to do what we know is wrong.

Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

This is why I despise the phrase “It is better to pray for forgiveness than to ask for permission” It encourages the wrong choice, in fact there is always a choice even when being encouraged to make the wrong choice. In every single situation we find ourselves in ,from the big choices, like when to get married, what should I do for a career, to the tiny little everyday choices like, where to go to eat, or what to say in conversations with coworker, we always have one of two choices. Life or death.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20

15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

In this verse he is saying that we should choose life so that both us and our descendants may live, it is because each choice we make causes a ripple effect into not only our lives, but in the lives of those we are witnessing to,

more often than not choosing death is like a tsunami destroying everything in its path, it is loud and destructive leaving suffering in its wake.

when often times choosing life is like dropping a pebble in a pool of water its ripple is calm and sometimes barely even noticed, but even though it may seem unnoticed when we choose life we might actually be saving a life or more importantly bringing someone the truth, the truth that is in Christ Jesus and setting them free so that they may also live no longer in the temporal but instead with us in the Eternal.

so my prayer is that we all remain set free and that with all the decisions we make all the choices presented to us we choose life so that those in the world around us may also be set free. That we make his will our first response, that our first reaction to something is of GOD and his divine will, that his will becomes the very nature of who we are so that we may reflect his love to the world we live in. to him all the glory and honor and praise forever. amen

Fire

For the past couple of months I was thinking about how many different ways the bible speaks about fire. In some ways it speaks of it in the manner of ouch! Fire bad kind of fire.

Deuteronomy 32:22

For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains

In some it speaks as a weapon

Ephesians 6:16

above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

But in other ways it’s something good, and people reference it as a good thing, saying oh he is on fire or the holy spirit fire is with them.(this part is my favorite)

Matthew 3:11

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Acts 2:2-4

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I was sitting back meditating on these scriptures one morning when the lord had brought me back to a time where I was troubled where I was in bondage and then enemy had me on the ropes. Then the spirit of the living God spoke in that moment saying “Joshua, the very things that were meant to kill you, I have not only used to strengthen you but also now to help others.” So I feel now like the bible uses fire in these ways because it can hurt us yes, but it can also keep us warm, and comfort us.

John 14:26 (amp)

26 But the <span data-fn="#fen-AMP-26695a" class="footnote" data-link="[a]” style=”box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; vertical-align: top; top: 0px;”>[a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

Just as if you got burnt by fire you learn not to touch it. When we get burnt by the world were learn not to do certain things and it helps us and our brothers and sisters to understand how to not get burnt and to boast in the lord for delivering us from the bad kinds of fire. And in doing so it uses what the enemy tired to send to destroy you to strengthen you and save others.
So my prayers are that we may all be filled with holy spirit fire, that we carry his presence with us and have eyes and ears that are aware of his presence, to live in a manner that honors him and to spread the love of the father to all. To GOD goes all glory and honor forever and ever. Amen
