Master Plan

So i’m going to take a different approach to this blog, go a little deeper one might say, its going to be a little longer so please just bear with me, or don’t I mean its entirely up to you. I’m just saying you might like it and I’ll love you either way.

I would like to share with you some things that I was reading in the bible recently.

1 Samuel 8

Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

10 So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who asked him for a king. 11 And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots.12 He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and someto make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. 14 And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. 16 And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men,[a] and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. 18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.”

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, 20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the Lord. 22 So the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.”

And Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Every man go to his city.”

GOD didn’t even want there to be a king over the land, but all of Israel wanted a king so he told them, “okay, you will have your king, but i’m going to let you know right now, he is not going to do right by you, in fact, he is going to take a lot of your things.” but even though GOD had offered them a warning, a way out they still said, naw we want our king.

so tada Saul show’s up and the lord tells Samuel to anoint him king of Israel.

1 Samuel 9:27

Saul Anointed King

27 As they were going down to the outskirts of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us.” And he went on. “But you stand here awhile, that I may announce to you the word of God.”

So Samuel knows some things that are about to go down at this point, and he tries to tell the people. “hey, you wanted a king, GOD wanted to be your king, but no you wanted a king so he gave you one, im just letting you know watch out because if you disobey god or if the king disobeys god then some things are going to happen that you may or may not like.”

1 Samuel 12:6-15

Then Samuel said to the people, “It is the Lord who raised up Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up from the land of Egypt. Now therefore, stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lordconcerning all the righteous acts of the Lord which He did to you and your fathers: When Jacob had gone into Egypt,[a] and your fathers cried out to the Lord, then the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt and made them dwell in this place. And when they forgot the Lord their God, He sold them into the hand of Sisera, commander of the army of Hazor, into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab; and they fought against them. 10 Then they cried out to the Lord, and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken the Lord and served the Baals and Ashtoreths;[b] but now deliver us from the hand of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ 11 And the Lord sent Jerubbaal,[c] Bedan,[d] Jephthah, and Samuel,[e] and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you dwelt in safety. 12 And when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king shall reign over us,’ when the Lord your God was your king.

13 “Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen and whom you have desired. And take note, the Lord has set a king over you. 14 If you fear the Lord and serve Him and obey His voice, and do not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then both you and the king who reigns over you will continue following the Lord your God. 15 However, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you, as it was against your fathers.

but they didn’t heed Samuel’s warning and bad things pretty much just start happening because of Saul’s disobedience. So then the lord sees a young man in the field tending to his sheep praising him day and night that he feels is fit to be a better king then Saul, that man was David.

1 Samuel 16:12-13

12 So he sent and brought him in. Now hewas ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of theLord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Now David had a whole process to become King, and many great battles and much gain and loss happen in his lifetime. In fact David had problems up until they day he died with the people, but he always put god first. Yes he fell short many times as we all do but he confessed and repented and made things right in the sight of the Lord, but it was never about David.

2 Samuel 7:12-17

12 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you.[b] Your throne shall be established forever.”’”

17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

God’s answers are always yes, sometimes your yes takes some refining time some times its not even what you asked for its a far better yes.

just like when the Israelite’s asked for a king

It was never about David, it was never about Saul, It was always about Jesus (the better yes). From the moment they said we want a king over us! God knew that these guys were going to do it wrong. Even David was going to do it wrong, and he was a man after God’s own heart. So he knew that he had to come, 100% man and 100% GOD, to do it the right way. To be the king of kings, to be the prince of peace, to be the wonderful counselor. even after this event took place It still took some time for Jesus to even show up though(the wait for the better yes), and there were many people that were telling everyone he was going to arrive one day but still no one listened, even after he showed up no one listened.

When I was putting this together, he spoke to me, in the matter of a recent event in my life of things I was asking for but not really happening or that I felt like I was failing at saying that no matter what, he has a plan and a purpose for our lives that no matter what WE try to put in the way of that he will always be king, he doesn’t want us to go the hard way. Instead of demanding Saul to be king they could have just kept letting GOD be king, but even though we may choose Saul over God sometimes(whatever that may look like to you) He will always send Jesus to get us back on the right track we just have to let him into our lives.

so my prayer today is that we just let gods grace and mercy shower over us with open arms and not try to fight it, that we just allow his love to shine through us into the world around us and that we just thank him and praise his name all the days of our lives.
