Many of us drive daily, some of us even drive for a living. In order to get to places of any distance from where you are right now you must have, a operational vehicle, and fuel. Some things that are good to have include but are not limited to:
- A destination
- A travel companion
- A gps or map
- And snacks for the journey(hey a guys gotta eat)
Once we are out and about on the road, seat buckle on while driving. We must maintain our situational awareness to the world around us, only using the mirrors when necessary, and defiantly not texting, playing games, or any form of social media ( stay focused) and driving. Being mindful and courteous of other drivers on the road, even if they drive like jerks like it or not you cant drive for them. If you see someone about to crash or smash into remember to use your horn.
believe it or not i’m getting to a point here.
Just like driving our car our spiritual walk is very similar. We have to maintain our temple and keep it healthy in order to get around, we have to feed ourselves with the word of GOD and constantly be renewing our minds with it.
- We will have a destination, and if we cant think of one GOD will give us one
- A physical companion is always good to have, but if you cant find one or have yet to meet them you have the best companion anyone can ask for, Holy Spirit
- God will always guide you, even if you make the wrong turn he will get you back on track if you are listening
- And snacks are just always handy
As well as our companion, Holy Spirit is our seat belt protecting us, or our seat belt alarm letting us know to remain safe. Our task is to remain ever present in each moment, if not we might miss his opportunity for us. Our spiritual “mirrors” so to speak would be our memories only to be used as a means forward, to look back at things and situations as to why an event did or didn’t work, or as a tool to use to help others, but never to dwell there.( if your driving and only looking back you’re going to get into an accident.)
The world will put things in your path to distract you from the goal, the goal which is in Christ Jesus, but we need to be focused in order to not fall into these distraction traps.(Still please don’t text and drive, its not safe)
Other people might be “driving” like jerks even our brothers and sisters in Christ, but its our job to love them through it, and not try to drive for them, just as you shouldn’t try and be a passenger to your own life. Even if they are about to get into an accident all we can do is use our “horn” by letting them know watch out! from a place of love, if they want to get into a wreck at that point its out of your control. They will learn from their accident just like you have learned from yours. (I hope, remember the hole thing about the mirrors?)
So maybe you know someone who is driving recklessly, maybe you know someone who is not taking care of their car, or maybe you know someone who doesn’t have the ultimate GPS, traveling companion, and protector, or maybe you are one of those people. Then my prayer is that all of you seek he who strengthens us to handle these situations and that you may lead other to salvation do to your driving the right way.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
