A term that is often thrown around when someone is going through a storm, or is just complaining about their situation. Although the statement may be true, its intent is only to keep things in perspective. The fact that yes it could always be worse doesn’t make the situation your going through not bad.
saying it doesn’t make anything any easier on the individual, but even worse than this is saying, “oh I had/have it way worse!” this is the absolutely wrong thing to say to someone. So if you are doing these things lets take a moment.
It will make them feel isolated and like the things they perceive as problems don’t even matter. When you feel like your problems aren’t that bad because someone else’s problems are worse you will feel even worse for having felt that way in the first place.
More importantly when you feel like the things you care about do not matter then you feel like you no longer matter, and the spiral of depression continues.
Our task is to help people take their troubles, worries, and problems to the ultimate problem solver, To the one true GOD. To encourage the wayward through every storm, to help them understand how to not let their situation determine there circumstance, to help them understand how to tighten their grip on perspective, from a place of love.
So if you know someone who is going trough something that may seem not that bad to you, just remember a house cat seems like a lovable pet to us, but is a monster to the mouse
So if you who read this are going through a storm and someone keeps telling you its not that bad just know that even though it may seem bad right now this to shall pass and my prayer for everyone is that GOD shows us what to learn in these situations as we traverse the unknown and weather the storms in our life.
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke iseasy and My burden is light.”
(notice he said my burden is light, meaning there will be burdens, but he has it covered)
13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
